May Picnic
Families with students ages birth-grade 2 are invited to a picnic and playtime on Friday, May 7, 2010 at Antelope Park Shelter in Lincoln. Click on the link above for more information. Please note, the RSVP deadline is April 30th.

Parent/Professional Workshop- "Enhancing Listening, Language, and Literacy: No Child Left Behind"
The annual workshop for parents and professionals funded by the Nebraska Department of Education and supported through the Nebraska Regional Programs for Students Who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing will be held June 5-6, 2010, at The Leadership Center in Aurora. Dr. Carol Flexer will be presenting information on the pivotal role of auditory brain development in the acquisition of spoken communication, reading, and academic skills in all children, particularly those who are deaf or hard of hearing. EIPA Workshop
The EIPA Workshop for interpreters will be held June 21-24, 2010, at The Leadership Center in Aurora. The workshop will again be offering two separate training strands. One strand will focus on enhancing interpreting skills and the second strand is for individuals wanting to increase skills in American Sign Language. The Nebraska Department of Education-Special Populations has funded this program. It is offered at no cost to those currently employed in K-12 settings in Nebraska through the collaborative efforts of the Nebraska Regional Programs for Students Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and Boys Town National Research Hospital. Computer Day Camp
Students with hearing loss in grades K-6 are eligible to participate in SNRP's Computer Day Camp the week of June 21-25, 2010! Computer Day Camp will teach students how to create slideshows and electronic journals using Kid Pix and iMovies. Students will get to select animals for their journals, and a field trip to the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo will give students the opportunity to take pictures and videos to incorporate into their slideshows. Students will not want to miss this fun-filled educational week so be sure to register soon! The registration flyer with more activity details can be downloaded by clicking the link above. Dennis Davino Workshop:
"Incorporating Visual Features Into Your Interpreting"
Professionals working in the Nebraska K-12 school systems have the opportunity to attend a free workshop entitled, "Incorporating Visual Features Into Your Interpreting" with presenter Dennis Davino. This workshop will be held in Lincoln July 9-10, 2010, and is funded by NDE and the Regional Programs. Click on the link above for more information. Literacy Blast II Summer Institute
The annual Summer Institute will be held in Lincoln July 12-16, 2010. Presenters Pati King-DeBaun and Linda Alsop will focus on literacy development strategies and effective intervention strategies to overcome learning barriers. Camp Anderson
New this year! Camp Anderson will be held at Fort Robinson July 19-23, 2010 for students with hearing loss post 5th grade - high school graduation. Registration for this activity is full. Please contact the SNRP Office to be placed on the waiting list.

S.E.E. II Skillshop
The annual S.E.E. II Skillshop will be held in Omaha July 25-30, 2010. There are two strands for the Skillshop. The Signing Exact English strand is geared for teachers, aides, and parents who want to learn and improve their signing skills. The Educational Interpreting strand is geared for interpreters employed in the K-12 setting. Click on the link above for more information and a registration form.
