Family Weekend to Sign

Nebraska Regional Programs are sponsoring a Family Weekend to Sign event! This event is for Nebraska students who are Deaf or hard of hearing and receiving early intervention or special education services and their immediate family members.  Throughout the weekend, you will expand your sign language skills with current vocabulary, learn conversational sign language phrases that can be used within your family routines, understand the importance of conveying emotions while signing, enhance your understanding and use of sign language through opportunities to communicate with adults who are Deaf, and meet and build relationships with Nebraska families who have children who are Deaf or hard of hearing. 

Date: January 18-19, 2025

Time: 10:00 am – 7:00 pm on Saturday and 9:00 am- 1:00 pm on Sunday

Location: Camp Comeca; Cozad, Nebraska

Cost: FREE!  Additionally, if your family would like to receive mileage reimbursement, please contact SNRP for more information. 

What is provided: Lodging, meals, daycare for little ones, activities for students, and workshop sessions for parents.

At this activity, students will have the opportunity for a fun adventure! They will work as a team to complete activities related to self-advocacy, collaboration, and career readiness.

Who: 3rd-6th grade

Date: Friday, February 7th-Saturday, February 8th, 2025.

Where: Norfolk Middle School

Virtual Sign Language Classes

Nebraska Regional Programs are hosting a 6 week virtual sign language class.  There will be a beginning track and an intermediate track as well as an option to take the classes in Spanish.  

Date: Tuesdays; January 21-February 25

Time: 7:00-8:00 pm CST

Location: Virtual

Nebraska’s Conference on Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education

This conference is for parents and guardians, educational interpreters, and teachers of the Deaf and hard of hearing.  Speakers include Crom Saunders, Tina Childress, Karen Putz as well as several Nebraska professionals and community members.  

Date: Friday, March 28, 2025 through Sunday,  March 30, 2025

Location: Younes Event Center; Kearney, Nebraska 

Cost: FREE!  There is no cost for the conference.

SNRP PEN PALS FLYER
