The Nebraska Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (NCDHH) is offering free American Sign Language (ASL) classes to parents or families of deaf and hard-of-hearing children in the State of Nebraska. These classes will use the ASL @ Home Curriculum and will begin in Spring 2024. This curriculum is being purchased by the Nebraska Department of Education and will be available to interested families before classes start. Families who are interested in classes are able to choose how they would like to take the classes (i.e one-on-one in person, in-person group class, Zoom, or hybrid). Also, families willl be able to pick a time slot that will best fit their schedule.
Registration: Registration deadline is December 31, 2023 and can be completed online here.
Mom’s Night Inn is an opportunity for moms or female primary caregivers to network and learn about raising a child who has a hearing difference.
Lincoln: February 3-4, 2024
Registration: Registration required by January 25 and can be completed here. Participants needing an interpreter or a scholarship must make those requests by January 18.

Digital Arts, Film and Animation Competition
Students, who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing in grades 9-12 as of Spring 2024, can show their artistic prowess through digital art, film, and animation. They can express their creativity and captivate our judges with their visual storytelling. Whether they’re an emerging digital artist or an experienced filmmaker, this competition is for them.
